We are seeking an experienced Consultant Clinical Microbiologist to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical microbiology service, you will play a vital role in providing expert advice and guidance to medical and nursing staff, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of new services and technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical advisory services for clinical microbiology, including guidance on the interpretation of results and the selection of further tests to aid diagnosis and treatment.
- Participate in the duty microbiologist rota and provide on-call services as required.
- Collaborate with our clinical, scientific, laboratory, and quality teams to develop and implement new services and technologies.
- Contribute to the training and development of junior clinical staff, including trainee clinical scientists and biomedical scientists.
- Develop and implement business cases for new equipment and methods of service, and lead on the procurement and implementation of new technologies.
- Conduct research and development, and participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- HCPC registration with the Health Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist (Clinical Microbiology).
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists by examination (Part 1 and Part 2).
- BSc in Microbiology or closely related science.
- MSc in Clinical Microbiology or equivalent.
- PhD in a relevant field.
- Proven employment as a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist.
- Experience of providing clinical advisory services, including guidance on the interpretation of results and the selection of further tests to aid diagnosis and treatment.
- Experience of participating in duty microbiologist rotas and providing on-call services.
- Experience of collaborating with clinical, scientific, laboratory, and quality teams to develop and implement new services and technologies.
- Experience of training and developing junior clinical staff, including trainee clinical scientists and biomedical scientists.
- Experience of developing and implementing business cases for new equipment and methods of service, and leading on the procurement and implementation of new technologies.
- Experience of conducting research and development, and participating in audit and quality improvement initiatives.
