About the Role

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function at Transport for London (TfL) plays a crucial role in delivering risk management activities that support the organization's decision-making processes and business needs.

The Senior Risk Manager will lead a small team of Risk Managers and be accountable for leading ERM activities and outputs to support strategic decision making and the achievement of TfL's objectives.

The post holder will drive the management of key high-profile strategic risks and associated risk reporting to meet the needs of key stakeholders such as the Executive Committee and its subgroups, the TfL Board, Panels, and Committees, including the Audit and Assurance Committee.

About the Team

The Enterprise Risk team sits within the Risk and Assurance Directorate, which is part of General Counsel. The team plays a crucial role in delivering ERM activities that support TfL's decision-making processes and business needs.

The Senior Risk Manager will work closely with the team to develop and implement risk management strategies that align with TfL's strategic objectives.

About You

We are seeking a confident candidate with a proven track record to lead, develop, and motivate teams that demonstrate the highest professional standards in risk management.

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of strategic risk management principles, approaches, and an understanding of TfL's strategic objectives.

They will also have experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders, including at Board and Committee level, and be able to provide expert advice on risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of risk management strategies that align with TfL's strategic objectives.
  • Drive the management of key high-profile strategic risks and associated risk reporting.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Risk team to develop and implement risk management strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on risk management to senior stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Executive Committee and its subgroups, the TfL Board, Panels, and Committees.
Requirements
  • Relevant professional qualification, such as a risk qualification (e.g., IRM, MBA, or CCAB/CIMA).
  • Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders, including at Board and Committee level.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and an engaging style to work with complex senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide expert advice on risk management.
  • Experience of leading and developing teams that demonstrate the highest professional standards in risk management.
