Employment Type: Permanent position, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, within the hours of 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

About Us:

As a water service provider, we ensure that over 5.4 million residents and visitors in the Yorkshire region have access to clean and safe drinking water, while effectively managing wastewater services. Our commitment extends beyond basic services; we are dedicated to community care, environmental protection, and sustainable water management year-round.

Your Role:

We are seeking a Corporate Affairs Manager (Policy and Programme) to join our Corporate Affairs Leadership Team (CALT) within the Strategy & Regulation division.

In this role, you will be a key member of the CALT, overseeing two team members and reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Affairs. You will lead the development of external policy positions and manage our interactions with regulatory stakeholders and national decision-makers.

As part of the management team, you will contribute to achieving the objectives of the Corporate Affairs function, assist in strategic planning, and drive results for the team and the organization.

Additionally, you will regularly prepare detailed reports for the company executive and Board, and develop an engagement strategy for national and regulatory stakeholders, including politicians, regulators, interest groups, and industry associations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead policy development initiatives, including setting agendas for internal policy discussions and collaborating with subject matter experts to create reports and briefing materials.
  • Oversee the Corporate Affairs program management, including Board preparation, strategic foresight, and internal communications.
  • Act as a senior representative for the organization in public forums with national stakeholders.
  • Ensure the organization maintains clear policy positions and implement influencing strategies as necessary.
  • Manage two team members focused on national and regulatory engagement and regional outreach.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in policy development, ideally within a governmental or think tank context.
  • Ability to simplify complex issues for broader understanding.

  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and strategy formulation.
  • Background in incident management and public affairs.
  • Experience representing a prominent organization in public settings.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate reputational risks.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders across various organizations.
  • Experience in leadership roles and engaging with Board members.

This position requires travel across Yorkshire, so a valid UK driving license with minimal points is necessary.

We promote a flexible working environment, but as a manager, you will need to fulfill the demands of your role, which may require additional hours for collaboration, training, or meeting deadlines. Our office operates Monday to Friday during standard business hours.

If you are an experienced professional in Policy or Corporate Affairs and are passionate about delivering exceptional service while safeguarding the environment, we encourage you to explore this opportunity further.

Recruitment Process: Selected candidates will be invited for an interview with senior management.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the communities we serve. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.

Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment checks, including a Basic Disclosure Check.

We reserve the right to close this position prior to the stated closing date if necessary.
