Job Overview

The candidate must be adept at inspiring others to embrace and adapt to multi-tiered changes, encompassing both local and national improvement strategies. An understanding of the evolving demands of the local and national health landscape, along with knowledge of change models to facilitate project execution, is required.

Main Responsibilities

Engage in quality enhancement projects utilizing the IHI Model to ensure the adoption of a variety of service improvement strategies within maternity care. Additionally, contribute to the development of quality enhancement initiatives based on local and national safety recommendations to promote the maternity transformation agenda.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a high level of motivational skills and substantial experience in influencing behaviors in complex and often challenging situations. Collaborative work within a multidisciplinary team, both within maternity services and the wider organization, is vital.

The candidate must effectively motivate others to adopt and adapt to multi-level changes that encompass both local and national improvement initiatives. They will also need to interpret and comprehend the changing demands of the local and national health economy and possess knowledge of change models to support project delivery.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Educated to degree level in Midwifery or possess equivalent relevant experience
  • Teaching/Mentorship qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Significant clinical post-registration experience as a registered midwife
  • Experience in reporting and presenting complex data analysis in various formats, including oral presentations
  • Proficiency in using IT software
  • A solid understanding of assurance processes within maternity services
  • Quality Improvement qualification/experience
  • Familiarity with current improvement tools and techniques as identified within the Quality Improvement programme.
  • The post holder will apply QSIR principles and tools, including project management, to plan and implement project deliverables, ensuring the production of high-quality, contextually appropriate, and sustainable changes that meet organizational standards and deadlines. This includes communicating and imparting this knowledge within the wider multidisciplinary team, both formally and informally.

  • Ability to evaluate midwifery care.
  • Must be IT literate – proficient in PowerPoint, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
