Job Overview

The role involves engaging in quality enhancement projects utilizing the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Model to ensure the integration of various service improvement strategies within maternity care. Additionally, the position requires active participation in the formulation of quality enhancement initiatives derived from local and national safety recommendations to advance the maternity transformation agenda.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional motivational abilities and substantial experience in influencing behavior in often challenging and intricate scenarios. Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, both within maternity services and the broader organization, as well as local maternity and neonatal systems, is essential.

The individual must inspire others to embrace and adapt to multi-tiered changes that encompass both local and national improvement strategies. A thorough understanding of the evolving demands of the local and national health landscape is necessary, along with knowledge of change models to facilitate project execution.

Main Responsibilities

Engage in quality enhancement initiatives utilizing the IHI Model to ensure a range of service improvement strategies are effectively integrated within maternity services. Additionally, contribute to the development of quality enhancement initiatives based on local and national safety recommendations to further the maternity transformation agenda.

The post holder will need to demonstrate high-level motivational skills and extensive experience in influencing behavior in complex situations. Collaborative work within a multidisciplinary team is crucial, as is the ability to motivate others to adopt and adapt to multi-level changes, including local and national improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Educated to degree level in Midwifery or possess equivalent relevant experience
  • Teaching/Mentorship qualification or equivalent

Experience

  • Significant clinical post-registration experience as a registered midwife
  • Experience in reporting and presenting complex data analyses across various formats, including oral presentations
  • Proficiency in IT software
  • Sound knowledge of assurance processes within maternity services
  • Quality Improvement qualification/experience
  • Familiarity with current improvement tools and techniques as outlined in the QI program.
  • The post holder will apply QSIR principles and tools, including project management, to plan and implement project deliverables, ensuring the production of high-quality, contextually appropriate, and sustainable changes that meet organizational standards and milestones.
