Job Purpose Overview

The People and Organisational Development team at NatureScot is dedicated to delivering comprehensive human resource services that are both professional and responsive. As we navigate a transformative phase, our focus is on enhancing our support to align with the corporate strategy and People Programme.

In this role, you will ensure the provision of a high-quality, client-centered HR service, adhering to relevant policies, best practices, and employment laws that align with NatureScot's business goals. You will collaborate with managers and staff to empower them in achieving our corporate objectives. As a vital member of the team, you will deliver a responsive service while actively contributing to the success of our People Programme.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Serve as the primary contact for inquiries related to employee relations and recruitment. Facilitate the recruitment process, providing guidance on advertising strategies and best practices. Collaborate with employees and managers at all levels to address employment-related matters. Offer advice on current policies, ensuring managers are informed of all pertinent information and potential risks before making decisions. Stay informed about organizational changes and initiatives related to the People Programme. Collect, compile, and analyze data from our HR systems to provide accurate information. Provide support to colleagues, acting as a positive role model and mentor. Engage actively in team meetings and development sessions, taking an initiative in your professional growth. Work collaboratively with other Advisers and the People & OD Team to offer support across NatureScot. Foster a positive employee relations environment through collaboration with recognized Trade Unions. Identify opportunities for the People & OD team to add value across various departments.

Required Skills (Refer to these in your Supporting Statement)

CIPD accreditation or a commitment to obtaining a professional HR qualification. Prior experience in HR generalist roles, particularly in employee relations. Ability to coach others or a willingness to develop coaching skills. Understanding of employment, payroll, and equality legislation, along with HR best practices. Strong organizational and analytical skills, capable of managing a diverse and busy workload. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence, listen, and present information clearly in both written and verbal formats. Strong interpersonal skills that enhance collaborative working and customer-focused service delivery. Familiarity with HR/Payroll systems such as Oracle, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including online communication tools. Experience or understanding of working in partnership with Trade Unions. Awareness of Data Protection Legislation and Freedom of Information requirements.

Prerequisites

Proof of right to work in the UK and residency in the UK. Willingness to undergo a Disclosure Scotland application. While proficiency in Gaelic is not mandatory, it is considered a desirable skill in support of our Gaelic Language Plan.
