JOB SUMMARY

As an Environmental Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing essential laboratory upkeep and routine daily operations. You will assist in various ecotoxicology assessments conducted on-site, demonstrating a commitment to high standards and teamwork. Your role will also involve supporting fieldwork and other related tasks as necessary.

In this position, you are expected to deliver exceptional technical laboratory services in alignment with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, within the Environmental team, and in accordance with NOV's strategic and business goals. You will assist with designated ecotoxicology and environmental fate studies as instructed by senior personnel.

Your key responsibilities will encompass the maintenance and repair of laboratory apparatus, systems, and infrastructure within the Environmental laboratory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct laboratory operations and general tasks as directed by senior Environmental Unit staff.
  • Support designated studies as instructed by Study Directors, ensuring compliance with GLP regulations.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities to meet GLP standards consistently.
  • Participate in the upkeep and repair of laboratory equipment and systems.
  • Ensure timely calibration of equipment.
  • Manage inventory levels of equipment, materials, and consumables.
  • Engage in the enhancement of technical practices and method development.
  • Assist with fieldwork and other areas as required.
  • Uphold a high level of professionalism while representing NOV.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area and department.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental legislation and company policies.
  • Be well-versed in departmental and company policies, ensuring all work adheres to these standards.
  • Support other departments and undertake additional duties as required by management.

  • Ability to comprehend, assess, and apply technical information effectively.
  • Capable of staying updated with a dynamic range of products and services.
  • Efficiently manage time to complete assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to provide necessary information to colleagues to facilitate their tasks.
  • Quickly identify critical information and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and resources to achieve objectives.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • On-the-job training will be provided; prior experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Consideration will be given to school leavers and individuals seeking a career change.
