JOB SUMMARY

As an Environmental Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining laboratory operations and executing routine tasks. You will support various ecotoxicology assessments conducted on-site, ensuring high-quality work while collaborating effectively with team members. Additionally, you will assist in field operations and other relevant areas as needed.

The Environmental Laboratory Specialist role demands a commitment to delivering exceptional technical laboratory services, adhering to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, and aligning with NOV's strategic objectives. You will also be tasked with supporting designated ecotoxicology and environmental fate investigations as directed by senior personnel.

Your duties will encompass the upkeep and repair of laboratory instruments, systems, and infrastructure within the Environmental laboratory.

Key to this position is your capacity to communicate effectively and support fellow laboratory personnel while functioning as a collaborative team member. You should be eager to embrace new challenges and, when appropriate, engage in enhancing technical methodologies and practices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct laboratory tasks and general duties as assigned by senior staff in the Environmental Unit.
  • Assist with specified studies as directed by Study Directors, ensuring compliance with GLP regulations.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities in accordance with GLP standards at all times.
  • Participate in the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and systems.
  • Ensure timely calibration of instruments is performed and documented.
  • Manage inventory levels of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Engage in the enhancement of technical practices and method development.
  • Support fieldwork and other areas as necessary.
  • Uphold a high standard of professionalism while representing NOV.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area and department.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with departmental and company policies, ensuring compliance in all actions.
  • Assist other departments and perform additional duties as required by management.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to comprehend, assess, and apply technical information.
  • Capable of staying updated with a dynamic range of products and services.
  • Proficient in managing time effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to provide colleagues with necessary information to facilitate their work.
  • Quick to identify critical information and respond appropriately.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and resources to achieve objectives.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • On-the-job training will be provided; prior experience is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Consideration will be given to school leavers and individuals seeking a career change.
