Key Responsibilities

The Lead Clinical Practitioner will engage with the Home Treatment Team to deliver intensive home-based support for individuals aged 18 and older who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

The individual in this role will be accountable for ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards within their designated clinical pathways and teams. They will guarantee that all clients receiving care and treatment from our services do so in alignment with our strategic objectives and are protected from any potential harm. Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-qualification experience
  • Experience in risk assessment and management
  • Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with individuals
  • Experience in supporting individuals in mental health crises
  • Ability to interpret research and apply findings to practice
  • Knowledge and application of counseling and cognitive behavioral skills, as well as psychosocial interventions
  • Experience managing clients with substance use issues or dual diagnoses
  • Experience conducting assessments, determining appropriate care pathways, and confirming diagnoses
  • Other relevant post-registration experience
  • Understanding of research principles

Desirable

  • Experience in teaching, training, and/or supervising clinical staff
  • Clinical leadership experience

Qualifications

Essential

  • A professional mental health qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification relevant to the specialty or equivalent experience gained through short courses or practical experience
  • Evidence of commitment to lifelong learning and ongoing professional development

Desirable

  • Management qualification
  • Training in safeguarding children and young people: roles and competencies for healthcare staff

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of key areas in professional mental health practice
  • Specialized knowledge of mental health disorders
  • Understanding of clinical risk assessment
  • Ability to apply teaching theory in practice
  • Capability to conduct bio-psycho-social assessments and formulate comprehensive care pathways
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to engage with challenging and/or acutely distressed patients in potentially hostile situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques effectively
  • Clinical knowledge sufficient to make autonomous decisions based on complex presenting issues
  • Management and organizational skills to handle multiple complex activities and clinical tasks, adjusting as needed for individual patient and service requirements
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
