Operations Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at The Squad Club, a local charity that supports young people and adults with learning disabilities. As an Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our charity, including the delivery of our Thursday evening social clubs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the operational activities of the charity, ensuring that our Thursday evening sessions are delivered to a consistently high standard.
  • Line manage and support our two part-time group leaders, providing guidance and development opportunities to help them excel in their roles.
  • Liaise with our trustee board to ensure that operational matters are escalated and reported on a regular basis.
  • Support the delivery of Thursday evening club sessions, working closely with our group leaders and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to recruit and retain volunteers, ensuring that our charity has a strong and dedicated team of supporters.
  • Oversee the DBS checking process for staff, trustees, and volunteers, ensuring that our charity is compliant with all relevant legislation.
  • Work with our group leaders to maintain accurate records of DBS checks and member information on our database systems.
Requirements:
  • Experience of line-managing people and managing operational delivery/service delivery, ideally within a small charity setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • IT literacy, with the ability to use MS Office programs and our bespoke database systems.
  • A friendly, outgoing, and open-minded individual who is enthusiastic about working with vulnerable individuals and supporting our charity's mission.
Desirable:
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals, such as adults or young people with learning disabilities or physical disabilities.
  • An understanding of the importance of governance for a charity.
  • Safeguarding experience.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Policy writing experience.
