Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator to join our expanding Commercial team in Byfleet, focusing on projects within our South East region.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the complete financial cycle of two to three contracts, from assisting in the preparation of projected construction costs to procurement, payment, and final evaluation of subcontractors.
  • Conducting monthly cost forecasting and reporting.
  • Collaborating with various key internal stakeholders, including Construction and Procurement teams, as well as the Managing Director.
  • Engaging with external contractors and consultants to negotiate trading terms and contracts.
  • Overseeing subcontractor procurement, monthly valuations, payments, and assisting in the preparation of construction budgets for approximately three concurrent developments.

Standard working hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Fridays. You will be expected to visit your sites at least once a week, with occasional overtime as needed.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A background in Construction, with prior experience as a Cost Estimator, preferably in residential development.
  • A relevant qualification such as HNC or HND, with membership in a professional body like RICS or CIOB being advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings, specification documents, and industry terminology.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in measuring drawings, tender analysis, and standard surveying techniques.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating self-motivation and effective prioritization skills.
