Role Responsibilities

We are in search of a skilled Cost Estimator to join our expanding Commercial team in Byfleet, focusing on projects within our South East region.

Your responsibilities will encompass managing the complete financial cycle of two to three contracts, including:

  • Assisting in the preparation of projected construction costs.
  • Overseeing procurement, payments, and final evaluations of subcontractors.
  • Conducting monthly cost forecasting and reporting.

You will collaborate with various key internal stakeholders, from Construction and Procurement to the Managing Director, and engage with external contractors and consultants to negotiate trading terms and contracts.

Your duties will also include:

  • Subcontractor procurement.
  • Monthly subcontractor valuations and payments.
  • Preparation of construction budgets for approximately three concurrent developments.

Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Fridays. Site visits will be required weekly, with occasional overtime.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a background in Construction, with prior experience as a Cost Estimator, preferably in residential development.

A qualification such as HNC or HND is essential, and membership in a professional body (RICS or CIOB) is preferred but not mandatory. Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings, specifications, and relevant terminology is crucial.

We seek a commercially savvy negotiator with experience in measuring drawings, tender analysis, and standard surveying techniques. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong self-motivation and the ability to prioritize effectively.
