Role Responsibilities

We are in search of a skilled Estimator to join our expanding Commercial team in Byfleet, focusing on projects within our South East region.

Your responsibilities will encompass managing the complete financial cycle of two to three contracts, which includes assisting in the preparation of projected construction costs, procurement, payment processes, and final evaluations of subcontractors, along with monthly cost forecasting and reporting.

You will collaborate with various key internal stakeholders, ranging from Construction and Procurement to the Managing Director, and engage with our external contractors and consultants to negotiate trading terms and contracts.

Your duties will include:

  • Subcontractor procurement
  • Monthly subcontractor valuations and payments
  • Monthly cost forecasting and reporting
  • Assisting in the preparation of construction budgets for approximately three concurrent developments

Standard working hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Fridays. You will be required to visit your sites at least once a week, with occasional overtime as needed.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a background in Construction, with prior experience as an Estimator, preferably within residential development.

You should hold an HNC, HND, or a similar qualification, and while membership in a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is preferred, it is not mandatory. A strong understanding of architectural drawings, specification documents, and relevant terminology is essential.

It is crucial that you are a commercially savvy negotiator with experience in measuring drawings, tender analysis, and other standard estimating techniques. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to prioritize effectively.
