Strategic Planning Manager

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Major Projects Planning team as a Senior Urban Planner.
Key Responsibilities:
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the progression of significant development sites and the necessary infrastructure. With the recent adoption of Local Plans, the Council is committed to achieving its growth objectives by ensuring the timely submission of compliant planning applications and securing necessary permissions. You will play a crucial role in shaping new communities, including Garden Villages and Neighbourhoods, with a focus on creating high-quality living environments while addressing environmental impacts.
You will manage the planning process for strategic sites and community developments across the region. This includes collaborating with various teams to ensure a unified approach and effective communication with stakeholders, ensuring all parties are aligned in their efforts.
Additionally, you will support the Development Management Team in delivering planning decisions of varying scales and assist the Infrastructure Team in facilitating project delivery through relevant funding mechanisms. A strong understanding of urban design principles and environmental considerations will be essential in your decision-making process.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess a recognized planning qualification and be a member of the RTPI (or actively pursuing membership). You should have substantial post-qualification experience in planning, particularly in residential development and infrastructure projects, along with a comprehensive understanding of planning legislation and experience in managing major applications.
