We are pleased to announce an opportunity to join our expanding Major Projects Planning team as a Senior Urban Planner.
Key Responsibilities:
In this pivotal planning position, you will concentrate on the execution of designated strategic development sites and the necessary supporting infrastructure. With the recent adoption of Local Plans, the Council is dedicated to realizing its growth objectives by ensuring the timely submission of compliant applications, securing planning approvals, and overseeing their implementation in accordance with the Development Plan. You will bear significant responsibility for shaping several new communities, including Garden Villages and Neighbourhoods, with a capacity for up to 2000 residences. A primary focus will be on achieving high-quality, well-designed environments while addressing environmental impacts and mitigation strategies at both local and district levels.
You will oversee the planning processes for the development of strategic sites and Garden Neighbourhoods/Villages throughout the region. This role entails project management across various teams, adopting a unified Planning Team approach that may involve collaboration with external organizations to ensure seamless communication with site promoters and effective coordination among all stakeholders.
Furthermore, you will play a vital role in the broader Development Management Team, assisting colleagues in delivering planning decisions across various scales while also supporting the Infrastructure Team in facilitating infrastructure delivery through CIL, s106 agreements, and collaboration with external entities. A keen eye for urban design and strong environmental awareness will be essential in your decision-making process, including experience with Environmental Impact Assessments.
Qualifications Required:
Candidates should possess a recognized planning qualification and be a member of the RTPI (or actively working towards APC submission).
