We are seeking a skilled Planning Specialist to join our Energy Projects Team at East Suffolk Council. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in engaging with energy infrastructure projects to minimize their disbenefits and maximize their benefits for the local community.
Key Responsibilities- Attend meetings with internal stakeholders, project developers, and key stakeholders to discuss project plans and progress.
- Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including elected members, town and parish councils, and environmental bodies, to ensure effective communication and engagement.
- Determine planning applications under the Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) and provide expert advice on planning matters.
- Assist in the negotiation of legal agreements and provide support for the Council's submissions during NSIP examinations.
- At Senior Planner level, provide mentoring and management responsibilities to less experienced team members.
- Motivation and interest in renewable energy generation and large-scale projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Commitment to quality output and outcomes.
- Awareness of the Development Consent Order regime for NSIPs and the Town and Country Planning Act.
