Job Overview

The Logistics and Trade Compliance Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the logistics and trade compliance operations to guarantee efficient and effective cargo transportation for Valaris' Global Operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manages the company's import/export compliance initiatives, collaborating with the Logistics and Trade Compliance team to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards. Provides support for urgent shipments, customs inquiries, and missing supplier documentation to mitigate delays caused by time zone differences across global locations. Organizes and oversees both internal and external logistics resources to ensure timely and precise delivery of materials at the most economical cost. Monitors global import activities concerning various regions, including Europe, Norway, and Africa, as well as other assigned areas. Leverages AI technology to generate necessary data sets for RGR imports from UKCS. Continuously seeks innovative methods to enhance efficiency and optimize logistics workflows. Delivers responsive logistics solutions during emergency situations. Cultivates exemplary vendor relationship management practices with logistics providers. Identifies inefficiencies and opportunities for growth within the current distribution network to improve service levels while managing costs. Aims to reduce logistics expenses through freight rate benchmarking, consolidation opportunities, and process evaluations, while assisting in annual freight rate negotiations. Ensures diligent tracking of export and import files, guaranteeing efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of materials to their final destinations. Manages documentation required for import and export activities across various countries, coordinating with freight forwarders and carriers. Closely monitors customs and tax exemption issues, including UKCS import/export charges and VAT exemptions. Assists with special projects focused on budgeting logistics costs and clarifying operational procedures. Acts as a liaison for various issues among forwarding agents, shipping agents, customs brokers, packers, carriers, and area offices. Conducts audits of freight forwarders and customs agents to ensure compliance with local regulations regarding record-keeping of import and export documents. Ensures that customs regulations are adhered to by all suppliers delivering equipment to freight forwarders for shipping. Provides support and follow-up for all equipment imported under Temporary Importation Status within the designated area. Collaborates with the Trade Compliance department to ensure all equipment aligns with customs and tax regulations. Participates in Operations meetings for strategic planning. Conducts weekly monitoring and execution of On Hand Reports, aligning with OSD recovery and KPI metrics. Identifies inefficiencies and areas for improvement within the distribution network to enhance service levels and cost-effectiveness. Attends Monthly Governance Meetings with Freight Forwarders to discuss operational performance. Expands knowledge and provides assistance on customs compliance and agent support as needed.

Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree is required. Relevant logistics experience in the oil and gas sector or freight forwarding is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot is preferred.

Skills & Experience

Willingness to travel within the designated area as required by business needs. Strong analytical skills to gather and synthesize data, ensuring its accuracy as part of the overall analysis process. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Openness to incorporating AI into daily work processes. Effective communication skills across various organizational levels and cultural backgrounds. Solid understanding of Incoterms and trade compliance requirements for suppliers involved in import and export transactions. Preferred knowledge of offshore drilling equipment, including familiarity with key suppliers and industry standards. Ability to respond swiftly and appropriately in a dynamic work environment. Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial and logical functions, and the ability to work with multiple worksheets and macros. Proven ability to manage various logistics projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Competence in obtaining, comparing, and discussing transport and handling rates within the area of responsibility. Demonstrated negotiation skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues effectively. Maintain a flexible attitude towards assignments and operate successfully under ambiguous guidelines. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
