Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement logistics and trade compliance strategies to optimize cargo movement and minimize costs.
- Collaborate with the Logistics and Trade Compliance team to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Provide assistance with emergency shipments, customs questions, and missing supplier documents to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Manage internal and external logistics resources to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries of required materials at the lowest total cost.
- Monitor worldwide import operations related to the UK, Europe, Norway, and Africa, and identify areas for improvement.
- Utilize AI to produce data sets required to satisfy RGR imports from the UKCS.
- Continuously improve logistics processes and identify inefficiencies to optimize the balance between service level and cost.
- Provide responsive logistics services for emergency situations and manage vendor relationships with logistics providers.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce logistics costs through freight rate benchmarks, freight consolidations, and process flow reviews.
- Maintain daily follow-up of export and import files to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of materials to final destinations.
- Control documents necessary for importation and exportation in various countries, including invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Monitor customs and tax exemption issues, including UKCS import/export charges, international imports, and VAT exemption.
- Assist with special projects related to budgeting logistics costs and clarifying procedures.
- Interface with forwarding agents, shipping agents, customs brokers, packers, carriers, rigs, and area offices to resolve issues.
- Audit freight forwarders, customs agents, and brokers regarding record-keeping of customs import and export documents and compliance with local regulations.
- Ensure customs rules and regulations are complied with by suppliers delivering equipment to freight forwarders for onward shipping.
- Provide assistance and follow-up for equipment imported under temporary importation status.
- Coordinate with the Trade Compliance department to ensure compliance with customs and tax rules and regulations.
- Attend Operations meetings for planning purposes and monitor On Hand Reports with aligned OSD recovery and KPI measurements.
- Identify areas for improvement within the current distribution network to optimize the balance between service level and cost.
- Attend Monthly Governance Meetings with freight forwarders and expand knowledge and assistance on EUM Region for customs, compliance, and agent's aid scope as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum years of logistics experience in oil and gas or freight forwarding essential.
- Experience with using Microsoft Copilot preferred.
Skills and Experience
- Available and willing to travel within the area of responsibility and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
- Ability to gather and analyze/synthesize data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to adapt to using AI as part of the daily work scope.
- Ability to communicate effectively across different levels of organization, departments, and cultures.
- Solid understanding of the legal aspect of Incoterms and trade compliance requirements of suppliers for import and export transactions.
- Preferred knowledge of drilling equipment for offshore drilling environments, including knowledge of key suppliers, industry specifications, and standards.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
- Ability to manage different logistic projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to obtain, compare, and discuss all kinds of transport and handling rates within the area of responsibility.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills with ability to influence and effectively lead and resolve issues.
- Maintain flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines.
- Work effectively as part of a team.
