Position Overview

At the Ministry of Defence (Defence Medical Services), we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive and dedicated environment aimed at delivering exceptional healthcare services to our personnel.

We are seeking a proactive, well-organized, and motivated Civilian Healthcare Provider to join our Primary Health Care team.

This role is based within our Medical Centre, and there may be occasions where you will be required to operate from other facilities within our network as dictated by operational needs.

The Medical Centre serves a population that requires comprehensive primary healthcare services for our entitled personnel.

This position entails a commitment of 37 hours per week. We are open to considering part-time candidates, provided that the arrangement is on a job share basis to ensure full-time coverage is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering primary and occupational healthcare in accordance with the standards set by the General Medical Council (GMC), ensuring that the objectives of the organization and the Principal/Senior Medical Officer are met to enhance patient care.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing comprehensive healthcare services to all registered patients during standard operational hours.
  • Enhancing the health, well-being, and employability of service personnel to meet the requirements of the armed forces.
  • Conducting mandatory medical assessments and delivering appropriate occupational healthcare and guidance, along with necessary administrative tasks.
  • Offering preventive medical advice to individuals and their respective command structures.
  • Supervising the management of communicable diseases, including monitoring and reporting through established service channels.

Additional Information

The selection process will be completed within five working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be scheduled at a later date.

Travel expenses for interviews will not be reimbursed.

New employees to the Ministry of Defence will undergo a six-month probation period, unless otherwise specified. Successful candidates must meet security requirements prior to appointment.

Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B will be required if selected for this position. Vaccination records alone will not suffice; serology levels must be provided.

There is no requirement for deployment, as this is managed by uniformed personnel, but you will ensure continuity of care for patients at home.

This position does not offer relocation expenses. Non-standard move applicants may be eligible for a full package, subject to eligibility.
