Job Description

Gleeson Recruitment Group is seeking a seasoned Operations Manager to join our team in the Production Area of a thriving Manufacturing business. This is an exciting opportunity for a people-driven professional to drive expansion and growth.

Location: Solihull

Key Responsibilities:
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the well-being of all employees across the site and areas under your jurisdiction.
  • Reporting and Investigations: Report health, safety, or environmental concerns, including near misses, and complete investigation reports to required standards.
  • Accident Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations, implement safe working practices, and address mitigation actions within specified time frames.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments across the site, updating existing assessments as necessary.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a group of Team Leaders, managing performance, absenteeism, disciplinary matters, and grievance issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive team development and ownership of continuous improvements in areas like housekeeping, plan adherence, OEE, problem-solving, CI activities, and plant objectives.
  • Staffing and Scheduling: Manage headcount for direct and indirect reports, ensuring adequate skilled staffing levels and aligning operational heads with the latest RTO.
  • Time and Attendance: Ensure accurate and timely completion of the company's time and attendance system.
  • Overtime Management: Oversee overtime requirements within budgetary limits.
  • Engineering Changes: Manage the introduction of engineering changes or new products across the facility, ensuring relevant quality documentation is available and approved.
  • Cycle Times and Downtime: Ensure cycle times are met in line with RTO and workbooks while minimizing downtime.
  • Containment and Audits: Monitor and ensure timely completion of containments following approved documentation, and conduct SAFE and Layered Process Audits.
  • Manufacturing Accountability: Lead the daily Manufacturing Accountability meeting, including cross-functional teams.
  • Shift Reports: Ensure shift reports are completed on time, detailing health and safety, quality performance, and production issues.
  • Escalation and Communication: Act as the first point of escalation for shop floor teams and customers regarding quality issues, machine breakdowns, and supply shortages.
  • Additional Tasks: Respond to additional tasks or requests as assigned by the Senior Leadership team.
  • Cultural Change: Drive effective communication and cultural change across the business.
  • Leadership and Support: Lead by example, adhere to the company's code of conduct, and provide continual management support, including weekends, to meet business needs.
