About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Ageing and Complex Medicine Directorate, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Elderly Care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with complex geriatric needs, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and guidelines, ensuring that our services are aligned with best practice and national standards.
  • Participate in teaching and training junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals, promoting excellence in geriatric medicine and sharing your expertise with the team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the trust to develop and deliver high-quality patient care, ensuring that our services are patient-centered and responsive to their needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research projects, ensuring that our services are informed by the latest evidence and best practice.
Requirements
  • CCT in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine, with recent comprehensive experience in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT.
  • MRCP (or equivalent) and full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • MB ChB or equivalent.
  • Strong commitment to the development of Acute Medical services within the trust, with a proven track record of innovation and improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, patients, and families.
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
