Key Responsibilities

The Ageing and Complex Medicine Directorate is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our services.

Key Features of the Role

  • Join a team of six Consultants and one Associate Specialist in Acute Comprehensive Geriatric Medicine and sub-specialties including Stroke Medicine, Ortho Geriatrics, and Frailty Services.
  • Contribute to the management of 81 acute Care of Elderly beds under the directorate, including 24 Orthogeriatric beds, 22 stroke unit beds, and 42 Acute geriatric beds.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including specialist nurses in Stroke Medicine, Parkinson's disease, and Dementia services.
  • Participate in regular MDT meetings, community clinics/visits, and Care home visits.
  • Contribute to the development of proactive case management, including Advance care planning and providing support to the community team.
  • Work in a trauma centre offering comprehensive trauma and Orthopaedic services, including Upper limbs and Lower limbs.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Acute Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, with excellent clinical and communication skills. You will be a team player with a passion for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.
