About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Acute Medicine Consultant to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Medicine Division, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality acute care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve patient outcomes and safety
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the delivery of emergency care services
  • Contribute to the development of new services and pathways to benefit acute medicine services
  • Participate in clinical governance and audit activities to ensure high standards of care
Requirements
  • Recent comprehensive experience in Acute Medicine and Respiratory Medicine
  • Experience of audit and its role in Clinical Governance
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to training and teaching of junior medical staff and other health professionals
  • Experience in clinical supervision
Desirable Qualifications
  • Formal leadership training
  • CCT or HST in Respiratory Medicine
  • Additional experience of working in dedicated Medical Admissions unit or equivalent
  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • Attendance at 'Teaching the teachers' or similar training course in medical education
  • CCT in General Medicine/Acute Medicine
