About the Role

We are seeking two experienced clinicians to join our team of Acute Medicine Consultants at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Medicine Division, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to acutely unwell patients across our Acute Assessment Units and Same Day Emergency Care unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing High-Quality Care: You will be responsible for delivering consultant-level care to patients, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being are prioritized at all times.
  • Clinical Leadership: You will provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Teaching and Training: You will be involved in teaching and training junior medical staff, sharing your expertise and knowledge to enhance their skills and confidence.
  • Liaison and Collaboration: You will work closely with clinicians and managers to address any issues arising that may affect the services, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Service Development: You will contribute to the ongoing development of our acute medicine services, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care.
Working Environment

You will be working across various areas of the Trust, including positive, asymptomatic, and negative COVID wards. This role requires flexibility and adaptability, as you will be expected to work across different settings and teams.

Requirements
  • Experience as a consultant-level clinician in acute medicine
  • Strong clinical leadership and supervision skills
  • Ability to teach and train junior medical staff
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
