About the Role

Climax Studios, a leading creative force in independent games development, is seeking an experienced and multi-talented Environment Artist to join our team. As a key member of our creative team, you will be responsible for conceiving, creating, and contributing to the development of innovative experiences through artistic visuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of an entire level, guiding it from conception to a high-quality, beta-ready finish.
  • Collaborate with the team to conceptualize and visualize environments using 2D and 3D techniques.
  • Develop and effectively demonstrate creative and stylized artworks that meet the team's vision.
  • Critique and iterate on designs in a collaborative group setting.
  • Recreate established art styles with precision and attention to detail.
  • Optimize props and LODs to ensure seamless performance.
  • Demonstrate expertise in platform technology, asset discipline, and pipeline processes.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year of industry experience in a similar role.
  • Experience creating realistic-style props and environments.
  • Creative and self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong and versatile modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in Maya.
  • Extensive experience with Unreal 4/5.
  • Experience with Substance.
  • Experience with ZBrush.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • An artistic education to at least graduate level.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing realistic modeling and environment examples.
Desirable Skills
  • Technical prowess with real-time shader creation.
  • Excellent environment lighting skills.
  • A keen eye for scene composition.
  • Experience with Unity.
  • Success in iterative development and rapid game play prototyping.
  • Console development experience.
  • Illustrative/concept skills.
