We are currently seeking a Senior Manager - Component & Plant Structural Analysis to play a crucial role in our mission to enhance diversity within the nuclear industry.

Role Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Design Engineer for Components and Mechanical Equipment, the Senior Manager - Component and Plant Structural Analysis will provide strategic leadership across all facets of structural analysis related to component development and the broader plant.

This pivotal leadership position is part of the newly established Components and Mechanical Equipment team, which encompasses all hardware associated with the SMR power station solution. The role demands the ability to cultivate team capabilities while meeting the rigorous demands of the business, fostering strong leadership practices, and nurturing robust relationships throughout the organization.

The successful candidate will spearhead the structural analysis function, ensuring it aligns with all requirements throughout the product lifecycle. As the landscape evolves, adaptability and agile leadership will be essential.

The responsibilities include leading, managing, and developing the team to deliver a comprehensive suite of structural analysis methodologies, processes, and tools, ensuring effective and efficient analyses that support the program and establish the team as the design authority in their area of responsibility. The candidate is expected to evolve alongside the business and team as they grow, guiding the organization into the future.

This senior leadership role will expand as the organization develops, encompassing team size, scope, and budget responsibilities. The individual will be expected to grow within their role as part of their professional development. This position will require leadership across multiple locations and collaboration with suppliers both nationally and internationally, necessitating occasional travel.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience in applied structural analysis within nuclear component and plant development.
  2. Experience leading large, complex projects and engineering teams.
  3. Familiarity with structural analysis methods and their application, particularly in relation to component and/or plant safety cases within the Nuclear Industry.
  4. Ability to forge relationships at all organizational levels.
  5. Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to inspire others to achieve maturity in product development aligned with program demands.

Educational Background:

  • Extensive experience as a senior leader in structural analysis with a proven track record in delivering complex integrated programs and a strong aptitude for people leadership.
  • A strategic thinker comfortable navigating challenges within a developing business environment.
  • A history of leadership and successful delivery of large, complex nuclear product development programs.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent qualifications.
  • Technical degree or equivalent qualification.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a salary range of £68,000 to £89,000 (Dependent on Experience) along with:

  • Performance-related bonus of up to 17%
  • Benefits Allowance of £5500 for a customized package
  • Pension contributions of 12% employer and 6% employee
  • 28 days of holiday (+ public holidays) with the option to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover
  • Life Assurance at 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 one-off payment for new starters for home office setup
