Position Overview

The Array Cable Engineering Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the engineering aspects of high voltage cable systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel Requirements: This role involves travel across the UK and EU, with specific locations determined by project needs.
  • Work Schedule: Standard working hours are Monday to Friday.
  • Contract Duration: A minimum contract period of 12 months is expected.
  • Engineering Responsibilities: Lead the engineering efforts related to the supply, jointing, termination, and testing of array cables, ensuring adherence to client high voltage cable (HVC) requirements.
  • Technical Leadership: Manage technical interfaces within the cable package, providing essential HVC technical insights to both internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Design Evaluation: Assess and validate suppliers' technical proposals, ensuring that client requirements are integrated into their designs.
  • Certification Oversight: Ensure that detailed designs are approved for certification when necessary.
  • Design Verification: Review supplier engineering documentation and conduct independent analyses using approved tools.
  • Route Planning: Review and approve cable route designs and routing plans.
  • Risk Management: Provide technical input on project risks, change requests, and claims.
  • Change Management: Oversee management of changes not covered under formal change requests.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to technical and quality audits alongside the QHSE team.
  • Inspection Coordination: Define and manage project-specific inspection and testing activities, including various testing phases.
  • Documentation Review: Evaluate quality-related documentation from suppliers and prepare internal quality assurance documents.
  • Checklist Preparation: Develop inspection checklists for manufacturing and testing phases.
  • Asset Management: Prepare and assign asset codes for project components.
  • Operational Handover: Create operational manuals and spare parts registers for handover to operations and maintenance.
  • Non-Conformance Management: Manage non-conformance reports and related documentation.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expertise on electrical and thermal aspects of cables and associated systems.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of high voltage cable systems, including electrical and thermal considerations.
  • Proven ability to deliver effective technical solutions throughout project execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with high voltage array cables and accessories.
  • Strong project engineering skills, including technical proficiency, integrity, communication, adaptability, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
