Position Overview: Our client, a leading entity in the renewable energy sector, is in search of a skilled Array Cable Engineering Specialist to become part of their team on a contractual basis.

Role Responsibilities: This position plays a crucial role in a significant offshore wind farm initiative that involves cabling, electrical design, and high voltage electrical systems, with potential travel across various regions.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the engineering aspects related to the supply, jointing, termination, and testing of array cables, including the associated connection apparatus, ensuring adherence to high voltage cabling standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Duties Include:

  • Leading technical interactions within the cable package by offering expert input to both internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Evaluating engineering documentation from suppliers and confirming product designs using approved internal methodologies.
  • Assessing and approving designs for cable routes and routing plans on offshore substations and foundations.
  • Providing technical insights into project risks, opportunities, change requests, variation orders, and claims.
  • Managing changes and contributing to technical audits while participating in quality assessments with the QHSE team.
  • Defining and coordinating inspection and testing activities specific to the project, including those involving Certified Verification Agents (CVA).
  • Reviewing and approving quality-related documentation from suppliers, including the preparation of internal Quality Activity Schedules (QAS) and Quality Activity Plans (QAP).
  • Creating or modifying inspection checklists for testing activities during manufacturing and termination phases utilizing the Digital Inspection Tool (DIT).
  • Establishing Reference Designation System for Power Plants (RDS-PP) asset codes.
  • Preparing operational and maintenance documentation for handover to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams.
  • Overseeing the electrical and thermal aspects of cables and Cable Protection Systems (CPS).

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of high voltage cable systems, including both electrical and thermal considerations, along with the capability to interpret industry standards and technical specifications.

They should demonstrate the ability to provide effective technical solutions to challenges encountered during project development and execution.

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience is required, along with a background in high voltage array cables and accessories.

Skills: The candidate should exhibit project engineering competencies, including technical expertise, integrity, communication skills, adaptability, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
