We strive to create a collaborative environment where families, professionals, and the community work together to achieve 'Better Outcomes' for every child.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Strategic Social Care Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping our Local Area SEND Services. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative strategies that enhance the lives of children with SEND across Oxfordshire.

As the lead officer for Social Care within the Local Area SEND service, you will:

  • Lead in developing and implementing social care elements of the Local Area SEND Services strategy, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements such as the SEND Code of Practice and Children and Families Act.
  • Collaborate closely with the Department for Education (DfE) and NHS England to inform and influence the direction of wider Local Area SEND Services through data analysis and insights.
  • Strengthen social care practice and generate solutions by working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including parents/carers, children, and multi-agency partners.
  • Ensure that the voices of parents/carers and children are actively represented and considered in all aspects of Local Area SEND Services.
  • Build and nurture effective partnerships through negotiation and influence, fostering a culture of co-production and shared responsibility.

About You

You will possess:

  • Significant experience working as a Social Worker or Manager with children who have SEND, including experience in collaborating with families/carers and multi-agency partners.
  • A proven ability to constructively challenge practice, systems, and processes to improve outcomes for children with SEND.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to develop action plans and processes that support the SEND reform agenda.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships and effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

If you are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with SEND and possess the necessary skills and experience, we encourage you to apply.
