About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Oxfordshire County Council as a key member of the Local Area SEND service. As the Designated Social Care Officer, you will play a crucial role in shaping and developing the social care elements of the Local Area SEND Services strategy across the local authority.

Working closely with parents, carers, and children, you will gather their views on the system and feed this back to the Local Area SEND Services. Your ability to negotiate with and influence others, building and nurturing effective partnerships, will be key to the success of this role.

As a confident practitioner, you will be able to constructively challenge practice, systems, and processes to improve outcomes for children with SEND living in Oxfordshire. You will also be happy to undertake any other duties as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Social Worker or Manager with significant experience of working with children who have SEND. You will have a deep understanding of both Social Care processes and the SEND reform agenda. Your ability to develop strategies, action plans, and processes that support and enable the SEND reform agenda to become embedded within social care operational practice will be essential.

As a strategic thinker, you will be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the Local Authority to make the most of every opportunity for co-production with all of our partners. You will also be able to develop new and innovative approaches to managing the strategic approach to SEND in Oxfordshire.
