The Communications Security (ComSec) team plays a vital role in safeguarding HMRC's communication integrity. This team oversees critical services such as STRAP, Rosa, and Cryptographic operations, ensuring compliance with national accreditation standards. The roles are prominent, requiring regular interaction with personnel across various levels.
Key Responsibilities
The ComSec team is essential for maintaining communication security within HMRC. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with Cabinet Office policies for access to sensitive materials.
- Supporting authority requirements and ongoing business activities.
- Facilitating the STRAP application process, including conducting induction briefings.
- Assisting with annual equipment audits and staff reviews.
- Identifying compliance gaps and implementing necessary improvements.
- Providing guidance on STRAP-related incidents and services.
For Rosa, responsibilities include:
- Maintaining compliance with Rosa security standards and physical infrastructure.
- Reporting equipment failures and conducting regular inspections.
- Completing quarterly audits and managing site security documentation.
- Handling on-site security incidents and access control for restricted areas.
For Cryptographic services, key tasks involve:
- Supporting the primary Crypto Custodian and coordinating activities related to Crypto applications.
- Assisting in management and assurance activities across relevant locations.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications:
- Security vetting to DV level is required, which can be completed post-appointment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with Office 365 and SharePoint.
- Willingness to travel to various locations as needed.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in the STRAP environment.
- Experience in the Cryptographic environment.
- Experience in the Rosa environment.
