About the Role

The NHS England is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Specialist to join our team as a Health and Justice Programme Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of public health practice, leading on the commissioning of healthcare services for individuals in contact with the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide public health expertise to inform the commissioning of healthcare services in secure and detained settings, as well as in the community.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including NHS England, local authorities, and law enforcement agencies, to develop and implement public health strategies.
  • Lead on the analysis and evaluation of public health data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with health and social care commissioners, service providers, and academic and third sector organizations.
  • Contribute to the development of national public health policy and strategy, working closely with the national Health and Justice team.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent level qualification or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of working in public health, with a strong understanding of epidemiology, statistics, and health promotion.
  • Substantial experience of influencing commissioners and service providers, with a track record of achievement.
  • Excellent data analytical and IT skills, including use of databases and statistical packages.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
