Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom NHS England Full time

About the Role

NHS England is seeking a passionate and innovative educator to join the East of England School of Primary Care as a Training Programme Director. This role will focus on supporting First Year of Training within the Suffolk and North East Essex ICB Area.

Your Impact

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and UK ethnic minority medical graduates often face disproportionately worse outcomes during GP Specialty Training compared to their peers. This disparity in results, known as Differential Attainment (DA), is not attributed to a single factor like aptitude or motivation.

As the Training Programme Director, you will play a crucial role in implementing the International GP Trainee Support Programme within the East of England. Your efforts will contribute to providing additional educational and programmatic support to reduce DA and empower trainees to achieve equitable outcomes, fulfill their goals, and remain committed to General Practice.

About NHS England

NHS England is dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare services for all. Our mission is to:

  • Empower local systems and providers to enhance the health of their communities and reduce health inequalities.
  • Cultivate a thriving NHS where our workforce can make a meaningful difference and reach their full potential.
  • Foster collaboration to ensure our healthcare professionals possess the necessary knowledge, skills, values, and behaviors to deliver compassionate and accessible care.
  • Optimize the utilization of digital technology, research, and innovation.
  • Ensure value for money in all our endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the International GP Trainee Support Programme within the East of England region.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to deliver educational resources and support tailored to the needs of IMGs and UK ethnic minority medical graduates in GP training.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the programme, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal outcomes for trainees.
  • Promoting a culture of inclusivity and support within the GP training environment.
