As a Senior Build Engineer, your role will be crucial in optimizing our build and release workflows, allowing our development teams to operate effectively and deliver high-quality games punctually. Utilizing your knowledge in build automation, continuous integration (CI), and deployment pipelines, you will design and sustain robust build systems that cater to the intricate requirements of our game development initiatives. Your focus on scalability, reliability, and performance will drive efforts to enhance build infrastructure, adopt best practices, and empower our teams to realize their creative aspirations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborating with the Lead Build Engineer to develop, implement, and uphold our build and release pipelines, ensuring efficient and dependable build processes from development through to deployment.
  • Engaging with development teams to comprehend build requirements, identify inefficiencies, and suggest solutions to enhance build times and resource utilization.
  • Automating build, testing, and deployment workflows utilizing industry-standard tools and technologies, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and Docker.
  • Establishing and enforcing best practices for version control, branching strategies, and release management, ensuring consistency and stability across various projects and repositories.
  • Overseeing build infrastructure, including build servers, version control systems, and artifact repositories, while implementing monitoring and alerting to guarantee system health and availability.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a Build Engineer or in a similar capacity within the gaming sector, with a proven history of designing and executing scalable build systems for large-scale game projects.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of build tools and version control systems, including Git, Perforce, and SVN.
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment pipelines, CI/CD tools, and configuration management (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to troubleshoot complex build challenges and enhance build performance.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and drive initiatives to completion.
  • A passion for gaming and a comprehensive understanding of the game development process, with a desire to contribute to the success of exciting game projects.
