We are in search of a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to become a vital part of our talented and forward-thinking Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with systems engineers to establish electrical interface specifications for all electrical components.
  • Ensure the delivery of components within budget by maintaining regular communication with suppliers and monitoring DVP status, while adhering to all regulatory requirements aligned with the vehicle project timeline.
  • Oversee and direct design and development activities related to low and high voltage wiring, fusing systems, and electrical power distribution, which includes the formulation of specifications, drawings, reports, and approval documentation.
  • Manage full-service suppliers, build-to-print suppliers, and/or externally sourced circuit and 2D design across various prototype and development projects.
  • Generate, review, update, and authorize component data sheets and schematics in collaboration with other functional teams, our technical partners, and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring that wiring and electrical hardware are accurately positioned in accordance with vehicle architecture and packaged to meet installation, environmental, and EMC standards.
  • Actively engage and represent EDS in system reviews, sub-system evaluations, design assessments, DFMEA reviews, and verification & validation processes.
  • Manage issues from identification through to resolution utilizing the 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Hold responsibility for Harnesses and manage changes internally, with engineering service providers and suppliers.
  • Accountable for DFMEA, Routing Quality Assessment (RQA), DVP&R (Electrical & Mechanical), PV sign-off, and Engineering Sign-off.
  • Coordinate with Tier 1 suppliers, providing support for Procurement, Logistics, and Quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in various prototype and development builds, including lab car/test rig assembly as needed at the manufacturing facility.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments such as Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Programs, Logistics, Service, and workshops.
  • Offer support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Automotive New Product Development Process, including milestones and deliverables for each phase.
  • Proven experience in automotive electrical wiring and power distribution system design, development, and manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, ECUs, and other electrically connected components, as well as EMC and other regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with hybrid and fully electric vehicle architectures and wiring systems is a plus.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as CATIA V5 or V6, or lightweight file viewers is beneficial.
  • Excellent comprehension of 2D drawings and electrical circuits is essential; familiarity with circuit design or 2D drawing creation using Capital-Harness or Arcadia is desirable.
  • Experience in creating Harness Change Requests and managing the implementation of changes through design release and suppliers.
  • Understanding of harness re-works and the ability to analyze vehicle circuits; hands-on experience with minor electrical reworks is highly desirable.
  • Experience in system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma, or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP, etc.).
  • Experience managing harness complexities and component databases (DTs).
  • Experience in harness testing and validation processes, along with engineering sign-off.
  • Proficient in utilizing various engineering development tools and collaborative platforms such as Microsoft Office 365.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive, or a related field, along with relevant experience, or other recognized engineering qualifications combined with significant relevant experience will be considered.
