ROLE OVERVIEW

Manager of Doctoral Training Centre (ReNU + )

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Renewable Energy Northeast Universities Plus (ReNU + , "ReNU Plus") is a significant initiative aimed at cultivating the next generation of doctoral leaders in carbon management.

The programme is designed to train a cohort of PhD candidates across Northumbria (lead), Newcastle, and Durham Universities.

Northumbria University is in search of a dedicated and skilled project manager to take on the role of ReNU + Centre Manager. This position is diverse and demanding, playing a crucial role in the effective execution of the programme.

The responsibilities encompass the operational management of the programme, which includes student recruitment, training programme delivery, marketing initiatives, leading the management committee, and liaising with the EPSRC and the Strategic Advisory Board.

A key aspect of this role involves collaboration with a large team spanning higher education institutions and industry stakeholders.

This includes direct reporting to the Project Lead (Principal Investigator) and overseeing the programme budget in partnership with the Northumbria University Post-Award Team.

The position will be based primarily in the Department for Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering, with regular engagement in Research and Innovation Services (RIS) to collaborate with other Project Managers on similar initiatives and to directly supervise an Academic Support Coordinator.

In addition to engaging with students, this role will require interaction with academics from various Departments and Faculties. This includes participation in the ReNU + Delivery Groups and collaboration with Group Chairs to ensure the seamless operation and coordination of the programme. Achieving Net Zero necessitates a diverse range of perspectives and experiences for a sustainable and inclusive energy transition.

Consequently, the role will focus on fostering more diverse student cohorts and partnering with industry to enhance the appeal of the training programme, with some travel anticipated within the UK to support these efforts.

For further details, please refer to the
Job Description and Person Specification. For an informal discussion regarding the position, please reach out to the Project Lead or the Director of Research Operations.
