Position Overview

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) is seeking a dedicated Nurse or Allied Health Professional to become a vital member of our Research and Development team. This role involves supporting the execution of Clinical Research, particularly within the Oncology specialty. It presents a remarkable opportunity for professionals to advance their careers in both non-commercial and commercial clinical research.

The Research and Development Department is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused clinical research across the Trust. The ideal candidate will be a passionate registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with clinical experience in oncology or research. We are looking for someone who is organized, self-driven, and eager to expand their knowledge and expertise in Clinical Research.

In this role, you will engage in all phases of the research process, from study initiation and patient recruitment to the conclusion of studies. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to manage a diverse research portfolio and facilitate the implementation and recruitment for studies across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

The primary function of the Research Nurse or Allied Health Professional is to assist in coordinating clinical trials and research initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and managing care pathways for patients and caregivers involved in research studies.
  • Ensuring high standards of nursing care and promoting continuity of care for trial participants.
  • Collaborating with a Band 6 Research Nurse or Allied Health Professional to recruit, educate, and monitor trial patients across all HHFT locations.
  • Collecting and documenting precise research data in compliance with ICH, GCP, and EU Clinical Trials regulations.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop relevant skills and knowledge related to clinical trials, research methodologies, and the requirements of local, national, and international research regulations.

You will work in partnership with the broader multidisciplinary team to manage your caseload of clinical trial patients, promoting continuous improvement in the care of research participants and the integrity of research data.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Allied Health Professional.
  • Strong educational background.
  • Post-registration experience.
  • Experience in an acute clinical specialty.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing a patient caseload.
  • Good Clinical Practice training or knowledge.

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

  • Ability to evaluate, assess, and plan patient care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong record-keeping and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in IT.
  • Experience in teamwork.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.

Desirable:

  • Phlebotomy skills.

  • Able to lift and transport case reports.
  • Willingness to work across multiple sites.

  • Ability to work across different locations.

  • Experience supporting Quality Improvement initiatives.
