Position Overview
The successful candidate will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team. As a senior professional with extensive clinical expertise and advanced training, the individual will deliver a high standard of psychological services within the Community Mental Health framework.
Collaborating with senior management, clinical personnel, and peer support teams, the role involves fostering the development and maintenance of a therapeutic environment that is informed by trauma and dedicated to providing exceptional psychological care for adults facing significant mental health challenges.
A critical aspect of this position includes spearheading the growth and development of Clinical Associates in Psychology throughout the organization. This encompasses offering leadership, managerial oversight, and clinical mentorship to ensure these professionals gain the essential skills and competencies necessary for effective mental health care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Assume clinical leadership for the coordination and execution of psychological care within designated teams.
Guarantee the consistent delivery of high-quality specialized psychological services to individuals and their families, emphasizing collaborative approaches and addressing complex psychological issues while nurturing a psychologically supportive and trauma-informed care environment.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop intervention strategies, including specialized neuropsychological evaluations; provide expert consultation and guidance to colleagues in Acute Services, as well as the broader clinical team and external agencies.
Offer leadership, consultation, and support to psychologists and other clinical team members engaged in psychologically-based care and treatment.
Advocate for and implement policy enhancements within the Psychological Services framework, working closely with the Psychological Services Leadership Team and the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. This includes responsibilities related to recruitment, professional evaluations, and identifying continuing professional development needs.
Emphasize collaborative practices and demonstrate a commitment to respecting and valuing clients and their caregivers, embodying the core values of the organization: prioritizing clients and individuals, fostering partnerships, and upholding respect.

Qualifications
Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) accredited by the BPS, covering models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Formal training in the supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.
Desirable
- Post-doctoral training in a specialized area of psychological therapy.
- Management training.
- Accreditation as a therapist with relevant professional bodies.
Experience

- Extensive experience as a principal clinical psychologist.
