Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled clinician with a strong background in managing intricate cases within the realm of acute mental health services. This role is for a full-time Band 8A Clinical Psychologist/Applied Psychologist within a Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment team.
The acute service operates from multiple locations, including male and female acute wards, a specialized 6-bed ward, and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The successful candidate will deliver a highly specialized clinical psychology service to clients within the Acute Care pathway in the designated area.
You will become part of a dynamic, supportive, and passionate team of qualified and pre-qualification clinicians who are devoted to providing trauma-informed care. Your responsibilities will include conducting specialized psychological assessments and therapies, both individually and in group settings, as well as offering guidance, consultation, and training to team members. We utilize the innovative Comprehend, Cope & Connect (CCC) model alongside other evidence-based approaches, continuously evaluating our practices to enhance our learning and development.
You will collaborate closely with the leadership team within the Acute Care pathway and join a multidisciplinary team that fosters a psychologically informed environment aimed at supporting the recovery of adults facing severe and acute mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the multi-professional team, you will function as an autonomous practitioner, accountable for your own interventions and the interpretation of established guidelines and policies while providing a highly specialized psychological service to individuals referred to the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment team. This may involve working with families or other identified individuals when appropriate. Clients will typically present with complex psychological issues that would benefit from the services offered by the team.
Your duties will include:
- Conducting complex assessments and providing expert consultancy to colleagues and the broader clinical team.
- Delivering specialized treatment for intricate cases, necessitating effective planning and prioritization of your clinical workload.
- Offering specialist supervision to trainee psychologists and qualified therapy staff, as well as providing psychological guidance to multi-professional clinical colleagues.
- Engaging in research and development activities, fostering a research-oriented culture within the clinical team.
- Utilizing research skills to contribute to policy or service enhancements as required.
You will emphasize co-production and demonstrate a respectful attitude towards clients and their caregivers, aligning with the core values of the organization.
