Position Overview

We invite applications for the role of Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This position is integral to our expanding Anaesthetics and Critical Care Service.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team at our facility, which provides a comprehensive range of secondary healthcare services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, and maternal and pediatric services.

Our institution is recognized as a Trauma and Cancer Unit and has implemented a fully electronic health record and prescribing system. There are ample opportunities for teaching and mentoring medical students and trainees from various educational programs.

Main Responsibilities

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will contribute to the well-being of our patients during critical times. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing anaesthetic care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU), including participation in emergency response teams.
  • Administering anaesthesia for elective surgeries and inpatient procedures under appropriate supervision.
  • Conducting pre-operative and post-operative assessments.
  • Addressing acute pain management issues on the wards.
  • Facilitating emergency patient transfers as per your experience level.
