Genous is on the lookout for a strategic commercial manager to elevate our established digital home retrofit business model and guide us towards achieving profitability. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a driven individual with a proven track record in commercial and financial enhancement, alongside a profound knowledge of the retrofit sector, to influence the future business model within a nurturing and dynamic setting.

As a tech-enabled retrofit enterprise, we assist clients—primarily in the able-to-pay demographic, while also providing access to non-means-tested subsidies—in generating financial benefits and minimizing emissions through the enhancement of their properties' energy and environmental performance. We are accredited by MCS and Trustmark, boasting an exceptional advisory algorithm in the market, established bank and partner introduction channels, and delivering outstanding customer service with competitive pricing. Our demand is met through a supply chain network of predominantly SME experts utilizing our preferred products and solutions. With recent external funding secured, we are poised for rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to significantly enhance our commercial capabilities across both B2C and B2B2C channels, encompassing subsidized and non-subsidized retrofit strategies, as well as direct and partner-fulfilled business.

This will mainly involve:

  • Refining the existing customer proposition, emphasizing pricing and service bundles, along with providing strategic and commercial insights for new product and service development.
  • Collaborating with our Supply Chain lead to enhance partner and contractor delivery models, enabling Genous to price competitively and fulfill demand profitably, likely by transitioning to schedule-of-rates approaches across various providers and regions.
  • Establishing suitable terms, payment schedules, and risk management protocols, while optimizing margins and commercial value per customer over the long term.
  • Gaining hands-on experience with potential partners, financing sources, delivery contractors, and other stakeholders, including government entities and subsidy frameworks.
  • Partnering with the tech team to integrate necessary subsidy and pricing/cost strategies into our offerings, while improving our pricing and costing mechanisms.
  • Assisting with broader go-to-market partner commercial agreements.
  • Supporting the acquisition and execution of trials and roll-outs of mortgage and go-to-market partnerships.
  • Designing propositions and pricing structures for these initiatives and addressing commercial challenges raised by partners.
  • Minimizing cost-to-serve throughout the entire customer journey via self-service, technology implementation, and enhanced partner interactions.

Role Requirements:

  • Several years of experience in net zero or energy efficiency, preferably within the domestic renewables, home heating, or retrofit sectors, with a significant commercial focus in current or recent roles.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, including the capability to run models, scenarios, and complex financial analyses.
  • Financial qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory; however, a solid understanding of financial strategies, levers, and best practices is essential.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented approach, capable of working collaboratively or independently as required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate strategic challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
