Operations Manager

As an Operations Manager at Johnsons 1871, you will be responsible for the management of the operational team, ensuring the smooth delivery of services and the achievement of business objectives. This role requires a strong sense of organisation and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities- Agreeing rates and capturing costs
- Raising purchase orders and approving them according to procedures
- Completing sub-contractor labour monitoring forms
- Finding new suppliers and reviewing current ones
- Ensuring carton deposits are received
- Completing accruals for review
- Advising on availability and suggested pricing of resources
- Offering advice on delivery of products
- Coordinating day-to-day activities and assigning resources
- Seeking operational efficiencies through effective resource management
- Confirming start times and details of work with clients and operatives
- Completing briefings and debriefings with operatives
- Liaising with warehouse operatives to coordinate associated activities
- Ensuring employees are trained to deliver excellent service in a safe and efficient manner
- Developing employees to meet business requirements
- Leading the team to work together and support each other
- Performance management of the team with regular quality supervision and twice-yearly assessments
- Dealing with employment relations within the branch, referring to HR where necessary
- Championing company policies and procedures and promoting compliance
- Ensuring excellent customer service from all reportees
- Maintaining observation of all vehicles to ensure compliance with transport legislation
- Being responsible for the team and monitoring driving hours to ensure compliance with company rules and legislation
- Communicating with clients and removal crews to confirm time frames and assign teams
- Coordinating with the Brand Leader to ensure the branch is run efficiently and profitably
Preferred Skills / Qualities
- Excellent knowledge of the sector and understanding of procedures and legal requirements
- Proficient IT skills and a CPC qualification at a National Level is preferred
- Experience in planning work schedules and being numerate
- Strong communication and leadership skills to efficiently run a successful team
- Ability to problem-solve using initiative
- Flexibility to work nationwide and support operational teams
Additional Notes
The role will involve some travel nationwide and may involve occasional overnight stays in lodgings.
