Underwriting Analytics Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Data Insights Partner to join our team at Howden Group Holdings. As a key member of our Underwriting team, you will play a critical role in delivering best-in-market underwriting performance, driven by market-leading underwriting capabilities and insights.
Key Responsibilities- Support the delivery of meaningful insights through globally consistent standards of underwriting performance analytics and reporting.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to develop and implement globally consistent standards of underwriting analytics and reporting.
- Manage the production of regular and ad-hoc reports to monitor product performance across the organization and highlight areas requiring further investigation.
- Engage with key business stakeholders to define underwriting performance metrics and track them regularly.
- Support regional teams in producing historical and forecast underwriting performance metrics, aligned with existing planning processes.
- Work with Power BI Developers to design dashboards and reports that enable management to slice and dice across the business and rapidly assess the impact of 'as-if' scenarios.
- Coordinate reporting requests across regional underwriting performance teams and consolidate metrics to form a group-wide view of underwriting performance.
- Facilitate underwriting data requests from external stakeholders, such as investors.
- Horizon scan for next-generation analytical capabilities that could offer the company a commercial advantage.
- Strong understanding of data analytics and KPIs used to manage underwriting performance in a multi-national insurance company.
- At least 5 years of (re)insurance experience, with time spent within an analytical function (e.g. actuarial, portfolio management, catastrophe modeling, financial analysis).
- Adept user of Microsoft Office suite, with strong SQL and Excel (including VBA) skills.
- Familiarity with Power BI and one or more coding languages is an advantage.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to stay abreast with current issues affecting the industry.
- Pragmatic and able to translate data analytics to business stakeholders, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized, with good planning, prioritization, and time management skills.
