Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Regional Network Officer for Southern Scotland to contribute to our environmental initiatives. This role is part-time and focuses on supporting our operational activities related to land networks.
Role Details
The Regional Network Officer position may allow for hybrid working arrangements, where employees can split their time between the office and remote work. The designated location will serve as your official workplace.

Your Responsibilities
As the Regional Network Officer, you will play a crucial role in our Surface Observations team, ensuring the quality and availability of weather and climate data. Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating and maintaining observing sites, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- Providing guidance and support to voluntary observers to enhance the quality of data collection.
- Monitoring and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of observations from various sites.
- Managing site metadata in accordance with international standards.
- Coordinating site visits efficiently and maintaining an inventory of calibrated instruments.
- Collaborating with colleagues to uphold a network-wide quality management approach.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Experience:
- A comprehensive understanding of land observing systems and instrumentation.
- Ability to work independently, managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours and travel to observing locations as needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build effective relationships.
- Clear communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
- Willingness to transport and install equipment in various environments.
- Valid UK driving license and readiness to travel for work purposes.
