The Site Operations Leader at our Ditton facility plays a pivotal role within the Site Leadership Team (SLT), ensuring that the operations team delivers over 100 products safely and to the highest quality standards while continuously pursuing enhancements.

The products manufactured at Ditton are at the forefront of sustainable ingredients utilized in personal care, home care, and agricultural products. These offerings are vital as Croda aims to lead in providing customers with effective chemicals and sustainable ingredients that support the decarbonization of global supply chains.

At Ditton, we operate multiple batch and multi-product manufacturing plants alongside downstream processing technologies.

Your primary responsibilities will include setting the strategic direction for the operations team, continuously enhancing standards in Safety, Health, Environment (SHE), Quality, and manufacturing excellence to meet the current and future needs of key stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with all site Safety, Health, and Environmental legal and company standards.
  • Manage and uphold the site's Quality management standards, providing the assurances our customers expect from their products.
  • Allocate appropriate resources to execute the production schedule while optimizing overall manufacturing performance.
  • Lead the Operations Team, offering objectives, direction, prioritization, and development opportunities for all team members.
  • Develop, implement, and report on key manufacturing performance indicators (e.g., OEE) to drive efficient and cost-effective processes.

Our Ditton facility is embarking on a Transformation Plan with significant investments aimed at enhancing our operations, including:

  • Upgrading Site Infrastructure
  • Expanding capacity with a new Biopolymers Plant
  • Investing in R&D with a new Technical Centre
  • Enhancing capabilities in Biotech production
  • Targeting net-zero operations by 2030

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to influence and effectively lead cross-functional, international teams while managing multiple workstreams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster strong working relationships at all levels.
  • A passionate, enthusiastic, and optimistic attitude, coupled with self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Over 15 years of experience in the chemical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotech sectors, including site-based experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ).
  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in operational management.
  • Attention to detail and confidence in problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Understanding of financial systems for cost control and site profitability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP or other Enterprise systems.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • IOSH certification.
  • Experience in managing team budgets.
