Senior Land Surveyor - Fixed Term Contract.


*** Fixed term contract for 18 months to cover maternity leave ***


Compensation & Benefits: £48,962 - £61,201 + company vehicle scheme (for business use) + life insurance + up to 15% pension with a 5% contribution + annual performance bonus + retail discount programs + online healthcare access + life insurance coverage + complimentary on-site parking + 25 days of annual leave + 1 wellbeing day + public holidays.


Work Location: Hybrid working model with one office day per week, alongside regular travel across various sites.


About the Role:
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Senior Land Surveyor to join the Land and Property division at Yorkshire Water. This role is crucial in ensuring that Yorkshire Water continues to deliver exceptional service to its customers.

The Land and Property team plays a vital role in adapting to evolving customer and regulatory expectations.


Your Role:
As a Senior Land Surveyor, you will be a key member of the Estates Team within the Land and Property department. Reporting to the Senior Estates Manager, you will manage one of the largest land portfolios in Yorkshire. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert guidance on property transactions, landlord-tenant relations, and general estate management in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of surveyors and land officers.
  • Conducting inspections of various land and property types.
  • Managing estate inquiries and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Negotiating and finalizing new leases, as well as overseeing property acquisitions and disposals.
  • Addressing access and rights issues, including land ownership and title inquiries.
  • Traveling regionally as required.


Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • MRICS qualification.
  • Proven experience in managing estates or similar responsibilities to a high standard.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering estate projects on schedule.
  • Experience in inspecting various types of land and properties.
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Experience in people management.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks related to land ownership, management, sale, purchase, and leasing.
  • Familiarity with regional property markets.
  • Track record of achieving results against challenging financial targets.

  • Understanding of the commercial property market.
  • Experience in project and contract management.
  • Genuine interest in environmental sustainability.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in land access and rights management.
  • Knowledge of the water sector and experience in a regulated environment.
