Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Summary: We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be an integral part of the Commercial Services team at Yorkshire Water, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee the financial and contractual integrity of various projects linked to Yorkshire Water's Capital Programme. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring project budgets are maintained.
  • Facilitating negotiations with contract partners and suppliers.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Evaluating financial risks and supporting project success through financial oversight.

Additionally, this role involves collaborating with the Commercial and Contracts Manager to devise and implement commercial strategies while identifying new business opportunities.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with Senior Project Managers to enhance contract performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of construction contract administration.
  • Proficiency in identifying and managing commercial risks.
  • Familiarity with the NEC suite of contracts.
  • A minimum of 5 years of commercial experience in the construction sector, ideally within Water/Utilities.
  • A professional qualification related to the role or progress towards one.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Desirable Attributes:
Experience in:

  • Framework Agreements.
  • The water/utilities sector.
  • Developing commercial processes and procedures.

Work Environment:
We promote a flexible working model, typically requiring an average of two days in the office per week. For those who prefer an on-site experience, our office is open Monday to Friday during standard working hours.
