Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to become an integral part of the Commercial Services division at Yorkshire Water. This role is crucial in ensuring that we deliver exceptional service to our customers.

About Us:
At Yorkshire Water, we are committed to providing reliable water and wastewater services to over 5.4 million residents and visitors in our region. Our responsibilities extend beyond just water supply; we are dedicated to community welfare, environmental protection, and sustainable resource management.

Position Responsibilities:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee the commercial assurance of all financial and contractual elements related to a portfolio of projects within Yorkshire Water's Capital Programme. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assuring project budgets and financial integrity.
  • Supporting negotiations with contract partners and suppliers.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Evaluating financial risks and overseeing financial aspects of projects.
  • Collaborating with the Commercial and Contracts Manager to develop and implement commercial strategies.
  • Identifying new commercial opportunities.

Collaboration:
You will work closely with Senior Project Managers and Project Managers to enhance contract performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Skills & Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive knowledge of construction contract administration.
  • Ability to identify and manage commercial risks effectively.
  • Familiarity with the NEC suite of contracts.
  • A minimum of 5 years of commercial experience in the construction sector, preferably within Water/Utilities.
  • A professional qualification or progress towards one relevant to the role.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills to support key commercial decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional beneficial qualifications include:

  • Experience with Framework Agreements.
  • Background in the water/utilities sector.
  • Knowledge of developing commercial processes and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:
We promote a flexible working model, typically requiring an average of two days in the office per week, with the option for on-site work during standard business hours.
