Position Overview

The role involves overseeing daily operations in a specialized decontamination unit, playing a crucial part in patient care. This includes the proficient management of operational processes to ensure compliance with established standards. The service encompasses the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments in accordance with current regulations. The individual will serve as the Deputy Manager of the County HSDU department, collaborating with the Senior Deputy Manager to uphold the department's accredited Quality Management System while fostering ongoing advancements in line with evolving standards and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be accountable for comprehensive staff management, which includes:

  • Recruitment and maintenance of personnel records in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Management of employee attendance and formal disciplinary actions in partnership with the Human Resources department, adhering to established protocols.

This position necessitates the application of diverse skills tailored to specific situations, including the handling of intricate technical data, sensitive personnel matters, and conflict resolution, ensuring clarity and understanding among all involved parties.

Effective communication of pertinent information within the team is essential to guarantee the smooth operation of services and to promote positive workplace relations and teamwork. Prompt and efficient management of staffing challenges is required to facilitate local resolutions.

Participation in relevant organizational meetings is expected, with a solid understanding of the broader Directorate, Divisional, and Trust strategies.

The role also involves contributing to the decontamination service, which requires the ability to interpret equipment testing results and operate specialized complex machinery (such as sterilizers and washer disinfectors). This includes the capacity to analyze reports on decontamination assessments and their implications for patient safety, considering various potential outcomes.
