Position Overview: This role operates at a fully proficient level within the Family Services sector. Key responsibilities encompass the creation and execution of tailored service strategies across various domains, including Employment Services, Child Care, Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Adoption Services. The Family Services Consultant II functions autonomously, seeking supervisory input only in exceptional circumstances. Duties include interpreting regulations, overseeing programs, coordinating services, evaluating client needs, managing financial resources, and more.

  • Interprets regulations, policies, and legal frameworks
  • Oversees and administers designated programs
  • Conducts interviews and evaluates client needs
  • Delivers case management services
  • Monitors expenditures and prepares budget forecasts
  • Collaborates with external agencies
  • Conducts comprehensive program evaluations
  • Acts as a resource for clients and the broader community
  • Provides after-hours emergency support

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge: Principles of social work, human behavior, relevant laws and regulations, and social, economic, and health-related issues.

Skills: Proficient in operating a motor vehicle and utilizing personal computers with relevant software.

Abilities: Strong communication, counseling, service planning, decision-making, relationship-building, and staying informed on social work developments.

Educational Background and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline or equivalent experience is required. A BSW or MSW degree along with a Virginia Social Worker license is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field, two years of relevant experience, computer proficiency, and a valid, unrestricted driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Adult Services/Adult Protective Services, completion of mandated state training, possession of a BSW or MSW degree, and proficiency in specific software programs.

Special Requirements: A criminal history background check, Central Registry check, DMV/driving record verification, and pre-employment screenings are required. The employee may be required to work in community emergency shelters and provide after-hours on-call support.
